Lenses are made of special glass that either reflects or absorbs radiation but transmits a certain amount of visible light. The lens is plated with bright chrome, nickel, mercury or silver metal film, which can reflect radiation. Blue lenses absorb infrared, yellow-green lenses absorb both ultraviolet and infrared, and colorless leaded lenses absorb X-rays and gamma rays. For example, common welding glasses have relatively low requirements on the light transmittance of the lens, so the color of the lens is mostly black. 4. Laser protective glasses, as the name suggests, can prevent the laser from shining on the glasses. Therefore, the requirements for lenses are very high, such as the choice of light source, attenuation rate, light reaction time, optical density, light transmission effect, etc. Different nanometer (nm) lasers require lenses with different wavelength bands.
There are many kinds of protective glasses, including dust-proof glasses, impact-proof glasses, chemical glasses and optical radiation-proof glasses. Workers engaged in electric welding, gas welding, steelmaking and glass blowing should wear anti-arc radiation glasses. The lenses of anti-arc radiation glasses have dark and light colors, which are designed according to different requirements. The selection should be properly selected according to the intensity of the arc light during operation. If the arc light is so strong that you need to wear light-colored protective glasses, some infrared rays will pass through the lenses and cause damage to the eyes, which will lead to occupational cataracts in the long run.
