Dust masks are essential protective equipment for workers who are exposed to dust and engaged in dust operations. There are also a wide variety of uses and types of masks sold on the market. There are white gauze masks for doctors, antibacterial masks for food processing, anti-welding dust masks for welders, activated carbon masks, anti-particulate self-priming filter respirators, paper masks, cotton gauze masks, dust masks for dust operations, Anti-toxic and harmful gas gas mask.
Improper selection of dust masks will cause waste, and in severe cases, it will cause harm to workers' health and occupational diseases. Dust masks need to meet the needs of workers in different working environments. During the investigation, we found that in order to save costs, some units purchased some dust masks that did not meet the requirements and were of low quality, and even used some white cotton masks or other ordinary masks as dust masks to distribute to workers. Workers may develop pneumoconiosis if they wear these masks for a long time. Therefore, workers engaged in and exposed to dust need to strengthen protection, understand relevant knowledge, and prevent occupational diseases.
According to relevant regulations, the occupational disease protective equipment provided by employers for workers must meet the requirements for occupational disease prevention and control, and the dust masks used by workers engaged in dust operations must also meet the requirements. According to the regulations of relevant departments, all production technical specifications of dust masks need to meet the corresponding standards, and the units that produce dust masks need to obtain production and operation licenses in accordance with the law. The standards of relevant departments have strict requirements on the material, structure, appearance, performance, filtration efficiency, breathing resistance, testing methods, product identification, packaging, etc. of dust masks, and stipulate the production and technical specifications of respiratory protective equipment. The material of the dust mask needs to be non-irritating and non-allergic to the skin, and the filter material is harmless to the human body; the structure of the dust mask should be easy to use; when the particle size is less than 5 microns, the filtration efficiency of the dust mask needs to be greater than 90% . When the particle size is less than 2 microns, the filtration efficiency needs to be greater than 70% .
Dust prevention measures and the use of dust masks: Dust in the working environment is fatal to both the operator and those who come into contact with it. Employers should first take dust prevention and dust removal measures to protect the health of workers. In addition to isolating dust, using wet operations, keeping the working environment ventilated, and installing ventilation and exhaust equipment, operators should also be equipped with dust masks that meet national standards. Operators need to wear dust masks as required, and there should be no gaps between the mouth and nose, and they must be completely close to the inner wall of the mask to prevent dust from entering the lungs through the mouth and nose.
